I have used dual-lock for this and it worked well. It was easy to pop the boards back out, and easy to snap in. Dual lock is more expensive than hook and loop, but superior in every way.

I like to do this too. I’ll add most or all the resistors, do a pass on one side, straighten them all out, and then do the other side. I used to do them one at a time, but after I had more practice and a better iron it’s just so much faster to solder a whole bunch of components in one go.

I did not 🤡. I had an assumption of what constitutes as one based on looking at standalone examples. Now I can pull out some printed schematics and fill it out like a crossword puzzle.

It was more of a programmability issue. 8 MIDI devices by different manufacturers utilizing multiple channels, LFOs generating expression signals, MIDI clock, PC message mappings, a single treadle used for 5 different parameters across devices… It was pretty badass, but had cognitive overhead...

While they delighted in twiddling and fiddling, with all the combinations they hoped and dreamed for, only then did they come to realize that having access to all big muffs was the same as not having any big muffs.

Nice- I especially like seeing which PCBs with that “3-wide” control format people have been able to fit in a 1590B.
