I’m in the process of building a compact bass board. Vigilante is pretty spot on. My plan is tuner -> comp -> bass klon -> ce-2 -> dm-2 -> EQ. That may not sound that compact at first. Everything will be in a 1590B enclosure though.

Yep- you can get a little dirt if you crank the boost all the way, bring down the ceiling with the limiter, and then adjust the output. It’ll also be hella squishy. So, the boost can adjust how hard you hit that limiter. Then control the overall output level.

Is there anything between the back of the potentiometer and the board? Inspect the board carefully and see if there’s any places where two pads are making a connection. Also, some of those joints look like there could be a poor connection somewhere.

That is a work of art. Probably the coolest way I’ve seen an op-amp mounted.

On the sunnyscopa site it says you can use a hair dryer. Not sure how well that works in practice.

I was thinking about reporting back here. I have played it more and am finding that I either like it very clean or full bore. That’s interesting though, treble booster is a good way to think about it. Thanks!

Think about the switch as just another thing in the signal chain. If you skip the switch, you can just connect directly into the in/out on the board. The other two pads are there if you want an LED indicator

All good stuff. Another thing to consider while sourcing- the photo may not depict the exact component. Check things like voltage for capacitors, and lead spacing so you don’t accidentally get some huge component that doesn’t fit on the pcb. There are a number of times I didn’t look carefully...
