Promethium Parts Substitutions

This question is mostly necessitated based on my current parts inventory but also from looking over the Aion version. Aion uses a 1.5uF film capacitor in place of the 1.5uF electro and Bat46 diodes instead of 1n34a.

Has anyone heard a difference with those part substitutions?

Yes. The film cap is a preferable substitution. The BAT46 is totally fine—those diodes have a similar Vf to age diodes. They’re creating a noise gate / crossover distortion. Save the Ge for clipping diodes in an overdrive or distortion. You probably wouldn’t notice too much of a difference (if any) with the Aion subs. But, the film cap especially, would only be an improvement over electrolytic.

What are the GE diodes on the parts list? I have everything ordered except for those diodes. If they are unobtainable, what are some good alternatives?

Any Ge diodes really. I’d suggest going with Schottky diodes (e.g., BAT46) instead of Ge diodes though.
