Tube amp immolation

I've just completed a blackface Fender tube preamp (thx to @vigilante398 for the guidance) and have run it thru a Seymour Duncan PowerStage 170 (EQ's @ noon) to the speaker cab in my Deluxe Reverb. Sounds good, but not as good as the DR. When I play with the EQ controls on the PowerStage the situation improves dramatically which leads me to ask . . . a) does the output section of the typical (Fender in this case) tube amp produce a more-or-less flat response curve, b) does the "neutral" settings on the PowerStage produce a flat response curve? What are the inherent EQ differences btw A and B and how does that inform us about powering a conventional speaker cab w/ a SS power amp?

Running an eq through an eq. hmm....

When I'm using my amp to get the tone I want I leave the controls on the guitar wide open. Then I can dial the guitar back a bit if I want while playing.

I would think that at high noon would still be running through capacitors and draining some of the tone out.

You could try and see :)
