Evening all!

So although I haven’t posted much recently I have been, as @fig suggests, building things! I have just been too busy building and actually playing my guitar to post.

This is a bit different though as it won’t be with me long. So I wanted to get it out there before it’s gone for good.

It’s a gift for my guitar teacher. He once played through a “proper” Klon and loved it. So hopefully this can do it justice!

It’s pretty much stock apart from Tantalum’s for the electrolytic caps and I also matched a pair of D9J diodes at 0.35V which is Aparently the “magic” figure.

Working straight out of (into) the box I compared it to the original Kliche I built which as a pair of D9E diodes at around 0.37.

I have to say I prefer this one. Not sure if it’s the Tantalum’s or the diodes but wow. It’s louder and crunchier for sure. Nice and crisp but very controlled.

I hope to have a play with it some more before my lesson tomorrow before I have to say goodbye to it.

I may go through my collection of diodes and see if I can find some more around that same spec and see if it makes a difference.

Have fun and stay safe.

So, I presented my gift last night and we played around with it a lot more.

One thing I noticed was at low gain levels the unity with the amp was around 12 on the volume pot but as soon as I Increased the gain the pedal got too loud and we had to have toe volume almost at minimum.

Would changing the volume pot be advisable here to give more availability with high gain?

And if so should I increase the B10k on the volume and to what?

Thanks in advance

So the changing of the pot worked, and we won't mention anything about the stray 4.7K resistor that somehow ended up in the position of a 47K resistor. Who would have known such a thing happened in building pedals!

Off to learn how to read again, @Chuck D. Bones once again saved the day. The guy is a genius. And I obviously am not :-(
