Beetronics Larva Morphing Phaser

Are they actually hand distressing those enclosures? Or is that fake wear that's printed on?

Either way, the contrast between the distressed paint and the crazy faceplate isn't doing it for me.

All the more reason to build one I guess...

I like the aesthetics too. It’s probably worth that price considering it as an artpiece + fancy packaging. But I would absolutely buy the same thing in a more basic package for less.

Even if I owned one and wanted on my board, I think I’d prefer building a clone because it’s going to get blemished and damaged, and why pay a premium on something that’s going yo take abuse.

I feel the same way about the Abelha. Might try bumping that on the wish list again at some point...

I hadn’t even noticed that! I like it more now haha to each their own

Edit: I still don’t like it enough to pay $250. Building one is the better option.
I'd normally agree with building versus buying, and maybe this is just the world we live in now, but $250 doesn't feel horrible for the features included in it. Dual phasers with ramping options/different ramping modes, and three voicing choices is cheaper than some other phasers that pack similar features into it. But yea, I'd definitely rather build one that shell out $250 for it 😅

To further clarify, I think it’s worth the two fiddy. I just don’t have an extra two fiddy. I think the distressed one in the photo is a limited edition. The one available from sweetwater is more basic

Looks like there is a lot of digital control going on here (like the chase bliss Billy strings wombtone). I would love some more phaser options though. I don't have a phaser yet but it's high on the list

If I recall, the ones I've had were actually distressed and looked pretty dang nice. I'm not really a fan of the tacked on plastic pieces personally but overall they're pretty cool looking pedals and the PCBs are art. You know a Beetronics pedal when you see one, they don't even have to put their name on it.

I have a digitally controlled phaser project in mind, just have to get around to making it a thing.

How the heck do they make those plastic faceplates anyway? They're really nicely done.

Are they injection molded or something? If I recall they're heavily embossed but don't seem like an engraving.

I've had a couple Beetronic pedals in for repair/tracing and they seem to be nicely embossed, injection molded plastic faceplates. Even bought a brand new Overhive to check it out and I have to agree, the "distressed" look seems to be done intentionally well.

I really love the aesthetic personally. It's super unique and has a sort of "alternate world Lisa Frank dieselpunk" vibe. It's also an aesthetic I would never come up with myself - it's not some minimalist space age look, or stamped aluminum, or etched cloaked figure, or retro 80s theme (all of which are aesthetics I also like, but which are pretty common). I also like bees.

From what I've heard of the pedals I like the sounds. Also fairly unique. Wish more PCBs were available to build :).

They are doing 20% off on the beetronix website for Black Friday. I’m going to try and wait until then and buy one of those custom shop beauties

Being the son of a beekeeper, maybe, I kinda like their maximalist, all-enveloping aesthetic over at Beetronics. The bee theme also extends to inside their enclosures and their PCBs, which is interesting and unique.

Well, yeah! Trace it! Always had a bit of trouble with their aesthetic. It's unique and stands out, but looks messy. To me, even this better looking black & orange version looks... Off.

I think the main dude (Filipe Pampuri) is Brazilian? I could see echoes of kind of tropicalia design in there...

Anyway, nobody is going to accuse them of not paying enough attention to the art design part of their pedals. Maybe I just like them because that is an area I am highly deficient in, despite being artistically inclined and coming from a family lineage of graphic designers.
