    Jlcpcb and tariffs

When I ship things I absolutely have that option, but my customers typically complain about the speed so they spend a little more rather than having it take 3 weeks to get to Canada, 6-8 weeks to get to Europe, and the record so far of 3 months to get to Australia.

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

Yup if you refuse to pay it the shipment gets returned. I haven't really looked into this for the US yet, but one of my Canadian customers recently bought a $400 pedal from me and UPS was trying to charge him something like $150 in brokerage fees. He ended up calling the customs office himself...

A fair point, yup. I would hope the brokerage fees would scale proportionally to the customs duties paid, so they would be negligible on small shipments, but that may not be the case.

I doubt you'll be seeing brokerage fees on orders like that. I think I've only had the "no customs duties but brokerage fees anyway" things once, and only with UPS, and it was on a ~$500 order.

Should I expect to pay Tariffs on Tayda Orders?

Country of Origin is a slippery one with some loopholes. I was talking to my Vimex rep and he mentioned that they had a customer with requirements that no components come from mainland China, but they needed a rotary switch that was only produced in their China factory, so their solution was to...

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

True with Tayda, unfortunately not with JLCPCB. Tayda gets to a point (I think it was around $400?) when shipping goes to $1, JLCPCB just keeps going up with the package weight.

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

I usually go to UPS for my orders since the DHL prices went up. Speed is similar to DHL but usually 50-60% of the price. I'm way too impatient for the slow boat option. I continue to use JLC because I get SMD assembly on most of my boards, and assembly in the US is prohibitively expensive, and...

Steddi, Go! - simple tube D.I.

Because if I put the PCBs up then I have to post the build doc and drill template :P I'll see if I can find some time to get them up this week.

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

I have, but not as bad. Came out to about 30% of the declared value on a JLCPCB order. I have a couple more in process right now, we'll see what happens. UPS is the only carrier that has charged me brokerage fees. I had a reasonably large PCB order a few months ago that I carefully kept under...

Also, make sure there's nothing stuck to the board like this.

Wrecking Ball lights up and then dies after applying power

That's not even close to enough my dude, this thing pulls 700mA from a 12V supply when it's fully warmed up, which means to get it warmed up I would recommend at least 800mA, but ideally 1A if you can get it. EDIT: also don't power it up with the NE555 removed, it causes the MOSFET to overheat.

What power supply are you using?

    Warwick Hellborg preamp transformer question

Looks to me like those are the letter O and not the number 0. So possibly an abbreviation for positive and negative Output voltage? Reasonable to assume that's the rail voltages for the NE5532

I dunno. This thing. It's a pedal or something.

    Warwick Hellborg preamp transformer question

Quick update on this, Haufe has been sending me another email every few days asking for more little bits of information about who I am and how I plan to use these. They still haven't sent me a quote for them.

    Tayda Discounts?

True, that's why we still shop there even without the coupons, but they used to be even more discounted.

Nobelium build done. Thin sounding DI output

I mean you basically already did, if a multimeter set for resistance is showing a high resistance or an open, then the primary of the transformer is damaged. So if you want to double check obviously that's not a bad idea, but I trust your readings. I've had this a couple times as I've tested...

    Warwick Hellborg preamp transformer question

You're probably right. Haufe asked for a bunch of my information so they can set me up as a customer in their system, then they can process a quote for me for a prototype/evaluation run of 10 units.
