I put in some BC549Cs and compared it to the Sovtek Black Russian V8 I repaired. Sounds identical.

Looks like they put the IC in last, maybe that would explain the weird burn to the cap.

Ok looking more thoroughly at the schematic it appears that the Green Russian uses a 100uf electrolytic at C14 while the Black Russian uses a 22uf electrolytic. I am guessing this is a power filtering cap? Is there any point to changing this from 100uF? Also aren't 2N5088 transistors the US...

From what I can tell pretty much identical as the Green Russian on the build docs but using BC549C transistors.

I went through the schematic and changed the values, could someone look and see if anything looks awry?

As long as it wasn't damaged it will work fine that way.
