Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

Oh.. there's Peavey pedal with Transtube technology.... Dirty Dog. Schematic is available somewhere. And something to read about Transtube - https://peavey.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Chapter3.pdf Also this > Solid-State guitar amplifiers. There's some info about tube amp emulation (6.16)...

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

There was one attempt, but so far there is silence on the subject. Yes, digital. If there was anything sensible in the analog version, we would probably have recommended it long ago. P&R isn't a PA simulation. It's just a small area of operation of a tube power amp—the interaction between...

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

Good luck.. :) This can be interpreted in different ways. No bottom end? No punch? If it's a tonal issue, maybe try graphic EQ? Or something like Presence and Resonance from Bajaman? https://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?t=29369 Or maybe a Simplifier...

    Bring out yer Diptrace

Great news! :) The schematic and drill template are a big help. In fact, if there's not enough space on the PCB, marking of a pin 1 might suffice. Combined with the description in the schematic, this would be enough information.

    Bring out yer Diptrace

Cool idea. This is something I miss most in the build documents. The switches don't have their positions labeled. It would be nice to have something like this in the PPCB build docs. @Robert - is there a chance to add switch position markings (position names, preset names, etc) in the schematics?

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

These parts aren't strictly power amplifiers. They only simulate certain aspects of PA "sound" and behavior.

@Robert - out of curiosity - is anything happening in this topic or has it been buried in oblivion? btw - how about Rototron? :)

It's also important to remember the value tolerance. Just because the values on the package sum to 3.9uF doesn't mean that's the actual value. It could be 3.5uF or 4.2uF.

Yes, it will pop. But... to me, it would be probably "set and don't switch until necessary" switch. I would rather not switch it while playing (especially since it's a toggle switch). But, that's me.

Yeah, I know.. but it's a bit easier to have a neat signal path/layout this way. :)

This Week on the Breadboard: The VHT Deliverance Preamp Emulator

I've never tested the difference with and without a diode. Looking at the Ltspice simulation, the diode makes the waveform visually similar to that of a cathode follower. Here's an example – the top waveform is a 12ax7 before and after the cathode follower. The bottom waveform is the anode and...
