Bump... Just recieved 5 pairs of MN3102/MN3207 from Aliexpress. Two MN3207 are dead. Rest of the ICs seems to be OK. But.. Here's the picture of a pair. MN3207 is clearly after cosmetic work... sanded top surface and laser-etched letters. MN3102 are from desoldering, some legs are bent. But...

That's right. Considering that Vp for 5457 will probably be around 1.3-1.7V I would try to aim for differences no greater than 0.05V. But you'll see for yourself what you find in 100pcs :)

I'd take MMBF5457 and measure Vp - take four pieces with (almost) the same Vp value. Almost = with spread as low as 0.1V or even less. 0.05.. 0.01.. Exact Vp value is less important. Focus on the spread of the Vp.

Mystery solved.. before I wrote the above I checked output signal on the oscilloscope. And the Hard potentiometer made quite visible impact on the singnal amplitude but the I could not hear much of a difference in the headphones. Now I know why.. even with the Hard maxed the output signal level...

I have Rhythm channel on a breadboard now with +/- 9V supply. I only managed to play for a moment, so I can't say much. Just a quick one - with +-9V power supply there is quite a large output signal (although it depends on the Hard pot setting). Also - for me - a lot of lows with the 470n...
