    Mach 1 Builds

I own an actual Greer Lightspeed (my favorite pedal) and made a Mach 1 for a buddy. He then had me make one for another of his friends as a gift. They’re fairly quick and simple builds, but they sound great.

    Troubleshooting Glory Hole

Ok so I’m very basic with the multimeter so I’m going to explain how I did it in case I’m a moron. I plugged the dc jack into the old 9v 1700 1spot. The pedal was “on” (the led was on). I set the multimeter to V, put the black common on the - PCB pad and the red on the + PCB pad. It read 9.48...

    Troubleshooting Glory Hole

Nope. All tests since the initial assembly have been outside of the enclosure (except for the DC jack since it goes through it). I also made sure there was nothing else touching the enclosure to avoid grounding/shorts.

    Troubleshooting Glory Hole

Hey guys, sorry for the delay. My computer died and one thing or another kept me away. I've attached photos. Some notes: I bent the prongs on the DC jack to fit in the pedal. I have newer, smaller jacks I can use now, but need washers since they are now smaller than the hole in the case. I...

    Troubleshooting Glory Hole

Also, I got this from Lovemyswitches: Now I have it in the A/K LED spot. (Now with red going to A and black going to K (and it is beeping as connected to ground). I jumped the R102 resistor spot with a clipped resistor lead and didn't install this resistor. Should I rewire the LED so that the...

    Troubleshooting Glory Hole

It's all together, but it's my first build (of relatively few) that hasn't worked right out of the gates. I had dry signal when bypassed. No sound when engaged No LED I switched the LED leads, so the red wire goes to A and black to K, even though I had it red to square pad and black to circle...

Solder pad holes don't fit pins

Update -- Haven't tested anything, but the little ball dremel bit was the perfect size.

Solder pad holes don't fit pins

Yeah, I just tried heating them and no dice. On the back, the holes are too perfect to be extra HASL surface. I'll try drilling it. Now I'm debating would a drill or Dremel be better -- so many choices! I thought about surface mounting them, but I also have solder lug pots. If I was going to...

Solder pad holes don't fit pins

The pot legs line up and I'm 99% sure they are the correct pots (for example, https://www.taydaelectronics.com/p1-b25k-ohm-linear-taper-potentiometer-round-shaft-pc-mount-l.html). The holes on the board (Glory Hole) are smaller than any I've seen for pots (the holes for the switch are normal)...

Solder pad holes don't fit pins

So the holes through the solder pads for solder pin pots don't fit the pins when coming through the back. The pins can sit inside it if the pot sits on the component side. Are the holes meant to be beveled or were they not drilled through all the way? If that's the case, should I try drilling...

    Learning resources

As a "cultured novice" but willing learner, can anyone recommend any resources for understanding electronics of acoustic signal processing? I can build with a PCB ("solder by numbers"), but I'd be interested in a book or site that explains how each component affects the sound. More than just...

Prewired LED with resistor in Glory Hole

So is the current limiting resistor R102? It looks like it to me, but I don't know what I'm talking about most of the time. https://docs.pedalpcb.com/project/GloryHole.pdf

Prewired LED with resistor in Glory Hole

I have a pre-wired LED with resister from LoveMySwitches that I was going to use with the Glory Hole PCB. (https://lovemyswitches.com/pre-wired-led-with-bezel-cup-style-white-led/) Should I remove a resistor from the original plans so that there's enough voltage reaching the LED or should I...
