PSA: Tayda's 125b enclosures have changed.

So the new new ones I just got yesterday match the screw posts of the old old ones I'd gotten before and the backplates match as well. The ones in my initial posting don't match where the screw holes on the other two are, but the backplates match the new new but not the old old if that makes...

PSA: Tayda's 125b enclosures have changed.

Ok maybe the final update in this saga, I got a new batch of 125bs from Tayda yesterday and they seem to have fixed their issue. Each one in this new batch is measuring 51mm between screw posts on the short side and 106mm on the long edge. My i/o boards with a width of ~49mm fit perfectly now...

PSA: Tayda's 125b enclosures have changed.

Sure is! It's a combination of this reverse polarity circuit and this over-voltage protection circuit plus some beefy TVS diodes to hopefully quell any errant ESD. I'm using a 10v zener in there, I don't think JLC has zeners of a useful voltage in basic parts at all. But yeah this circuit is a...

PSA: Tayda's 125b enclosures have changed.

No I'm using my own for my stuff these days. Looking at the specs it lists the dimensions as 1.85" which is 47mm so it probably would work. I might switch to a new jack once I'm through with these ones I have.

PSA: Tayda's 125b enclosures have changed.

Hey y'all finally got around to this, crossing my fingers that these pics make sense. The pink enclosure is the old 125b and the green is the new 125b. I lined up the screw posts at the top so you can see how far off they are at the bottom, hopefully you can see that in the pics. The shorter...

PSA: Tayda's 125b enclosures have changed.

Yeah I can get to that later today, and I’ll update with some pics! I do know offhand that the inside distance between the screw posts used to be about 51mm and now it’s about 48-49mm. I don’t have callipers handy so it’ll have to be eyeballed unfortunately.

PSA: Tayda's 125b enclosures have changed.

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet so thought it might be good to get the word out. I'll also say up front I don't think this will affect anyone doing PedalPCB builds. Tayda seems to have switched up their 125b enclosures, dunno if its a new supplier or what. I don't believe the dimensions...

Canadians ordering from Tayda, what shipping service do you use?

I've been doing this as well. I just put in the order comments section and they just do it which is great. Averaging about $20-40 per order depending on the size as opposed to $60-90 per order which is much more reasonable.

Canadians ordering from Tayda, what shipping service do you use?

I have done the DDP with DHL ordering from other places before, not sure if you can do it with tayda ordering to Canada. Basically took my JLCPCB order from $60 in shipping + $40-50 in import fees to $70 in shipping+duties paid upfront.

Screen Printing Process for Pedals Breakdown

I'd recommend asking around at some studios in your area, both to see if they have facilities you can use for this stuff and also because they can probably recommend where to get supplies. You can get decently small screens but as you can see in my guide I use normal sized ones anyways. I don't...

Screen Printing Process for Pedals Breakdown

I just want to clarify here, the Nazdar epoxy stuff is 100% NOT WATER SOLUBLE! Do not wash that stuff down the sink it will clog your pipes and be very expensive to fix! This stuff needs the special solvent cleaner! The water soluble stuff I use is the Jacquard screen ink, sticks well to the...

Screen Printing Process for Pedals Breakdown

The nazdar info sheet lists a specific cleaner that might be available in your area, but theres an industrial screen printing supply store in my area that sells some stuff that's just called 'press wash' that worked for me but yeah it is pretty spicy stuff, I have to keep it in the special...

Screen Printing Process for Pedals Breakdown

Lots of people I talk to online use oneshot stuff, seems to be a lot more available than the Nazdar stuff. Since I did this thread I got myself some ADE and tried printing with it, it's pretty incredible compared to the other stuff I'm using but its an absolute pain to clean. I would bet the...

Canadians ordering from Tayda, what shipping service do you use?

Is that the time between when you order and when it arrives or is that just the shipping time? I am thinking about trying to get things from other places. I don't mind spending a few bucks extra for components from Digikey since I live like just across the border from their warehouse so I can...

Canadians ordering from Tayda, what shipping service do you use?

I've been using DHL for shipping due to the speed but I've found lately the import fees are creeping up in price. I've also found they scale weirdly, I had a large order net me almost a hundred in import fees with DHL but when I split it into two shipments on subsequent orders I ended up paying...

Screen Printing Process for Pedals Breakdown

Yeah its the Nazdar ADE series: https://www.nazdar.com/portals/0/tds/NAZDAR_ADE_Series_Epoxy_Screen_Ink.html Here's a cool clip of Holy Island Audio printing with it: YMMV on ink availability. I'm in Canada so trying to find somewhere to buy the ink without either getting burned on the...

Screen Printing Process for Pedals Breakdown

Nope, but I clearcoat them after. Currently I'm using that Jacquard ink since it sticks pretty well to both the bare metal or powder coated surface and it also washes off fairly easily before it dries if I don't like how it prints. I wouldn't recommend using typical speedball stuff because its...

Screen Printing Process for Pedals Breakdown

As an update to this I've been looking into new inks for my builds! The jacquard ink is good but not all that sturdy, you can scratch it off with your fingernail if you dig really hard. If I clearcoat it its a lot stronger but still not the best, and also I live in Canada and don't have an...
