    Double PCB template in 1590XX

Getting ready for my first double PCB in a 1590XX (King tone dualist / Soloist). Anyone would have a drill template for two single PedalPCB's mounted in a 1590XX? I'll be designing my graphics in illustrator If not, any advises would be welcome on how I should center the drill hole?

Protoboard Micro for testing Transistors and LED Res.

I'm looking for a convenient way to test transistors Hfe .... and led resistor value for required brightness. Would the Protoboard Micro be a good platform to acheive this? https://www.pedalpcb.com/product/protoboard-micro/

reading smaller value caps outside tolerance

Curious about the readings i'm getting on lower value caps. Before I begin, I understand I'm not using high $ value devices. This might just be the limit of these devices so I might being trying to be too critical understanding what I'm working with. I'm just wondering if I could expect better...

    SOLVED Corduroy possible bridge

After cleaning up my board, I notice that I had a small solder splash between R6 and R17. With the magnifiers it felt close to a bridge but It was probably fin. I tried multiple things to get it off from very gentle friction with a wooded tooth pick to desolder braid and it kept visually getting...

SOLVED Adobe Illustrator won't save in .ai

I was working on a creative for an UV printing enclosure. Struggle all days with this one trying to create a logo, and import it onto the enclosure art work. Finally found a way to make it work and ... now I'm getting error message from Illustrator that won't save file as a AI file . I...

Need some advice for faceplates design

Need some advice for faceplates (125b enclosure) - knobs/components hole: Should they be wider than the drill hole in your enclosure? How much? - Should I affix the faceplate to the enclosure before I drill it (use the faceplate as a guide) or will it risk to damage the faceplate? - What...

    SOLVED XB-MB (BB) Boost Hfe

Doing the BB Booster. It calls for BC550. I have mesured some BC550B (280-430Hfe) and some BC550C (430-520Hfe). Any one as experienced different Hfe in this circuit? Is it worth socketing let’s say the 280’s against the 450´s or will it have no significant tonal effect in this circuit?

    SOLVED Powder Blue 1u5 MLCC

The build docs for the Powder Blue call for 1u5 MLCC caps. Is there a tone related or specific reason for going MLCC or could it be replaced with box film cap? https://docs.pedalpcb.com/project/PowderBlue-PedalPCB.pdf

Lumberg VS SBP house brand power jacks

Anyone experience a difference or have concern on StompBoxPart house brand "Lumberg style" power jacks vs the original Lumberg jacks? I have always used the original Lumberg and was told that this was a critical component ... but I've been pleased with all other SBP products so it's temping...

    24LC32A compatible?

I ordered PCB's for the Hydra-Delay and D3lay on Friday. I just otice after the fact that I did not order the 24LC32A EEPROM. I'm ordering other components from Retro-Amplis and they have the 24LC32A-I/P in stock. Are these compatible...

    Electrolytics Cap selection ....

Before I begin, i'm not trying to go crazy with this but for the sake of better understanding what the hell i'm doing ... When it get's down to electrolytic capacitors, I stick with Nichicon and Panasonic. I'll eliminate some choosing by filtering dimensions, voltage, dimensions, Tolerance...

SOLVED Powder Blue 120uF - 16v cap safe?

I'm building the Powder Blue next and while picking the components, I noticed that the 120uF caps I have in stock are rated 16 volt. My basic circuit knowledge/understanding is that in this case it should be safe but I want to make certain that i'm reading this correctly... There is no voltage...

Muffin Stomp '75 100nF Electro vs Film Cap

I'm building Stomp '75 muffin (followed by other muffin versions). I have about 50 of Nichicon electrolytic 100nF and there are 8 needed in the '75. I noticed that I could swap there with metal film caps which I use as often as possible. If I sort the Nichocon (20% tolerance) and pick the ones...

Big muff Green Russian Vs Civilian

Looked at the component difference between the Green Russian and the Civilian. I knew there was not much difference between the both and they are from the same era but I was surprised to see that the only difference was R22 that connects to the Q4 emitter (2k vs 2k7). I will probably socket R22...

    Solder won't flow right ...

Practice builds confidence. I did more soldering lately and got better at it overtime. I did some pretty clean PCBs lately. Most days the solder just flows through easy peasy. Every now and them, I hit a project that the solder just won't flow right. Today was one of them. The solder would stick...

    TC1 tester readings

I've been using the TC1 tester to check all components in preparation for all my builds. The res and caps is pretty strait forward. As for the transistors, I have been measuring/using the hFE but the tester also providing the Ube (mV) and Ic (mA). If we use use 2N5088 for example. Does it...

    Tacky pots

I ordered a bunched of pots and some of them are grease gummy/tacky on the outside way more than usual (shaft, cover, pins). I know it's need grease inside so I don't wish to affect that but should I clean the outside a bit so that it does not attract dust or just leave these alone? If so, any...
