HATE sidejacks.
There's a 1590A perf layout of the ShadyCrystal B3K, so that one would fit PCB 1590A.
If designed for it, lotsa stuff will fit without resorting to SMD, though 1/8w resistors is a good idea in 1590A, and sometimes you need to find more compact caps than what is typically in most people's parts-stash.
1590N1 has long been my favourite size enclosure, it's the most build-for-the-buck, and top-jacks. However, I do dig these 1590As.
I will always try to build using the smallest enclosure possible. Sometimes the mods or knob numbers push the size up from what otherwise is a very compact circuit — like a 13-knob Fuzz Factory. The circuit fits a 1590A, but...
