This is the version I have, 2 iterations before the above model.
I find it much easier to dial in a desired tone sweep. Relatively speaking, the other filters I've used do the transition from fat to ice pick thin quickly, with little control over the transition or the endpoint. ie once the gate is opened it sweeps quickly to full treble, stays there (depending on decay), and sweeps quickly back. With the proton is seems like I'm more able to stay and play in the syrupy middle, using touch to swing the tone where I want it.
