Adding indicator leds

I'm brand new to this but just picked up a protoboard. After a few simple circuits I find myself wanting to add indicating leds to the protoboard for the power and effect switches. Could one of you kind people possibly help me out with how to wire them in? Thank you.

There are a ton of resources but here's one from

Pretty sure there info in the wiki here as well.
For other switches, you just use an extra pole and do as shown for the footswitch. So, for state change on a 2pdt, use a 3pdt and use the extra pole for the led.
You can also use a bicolor led for state changes

Probably the easiest thing to do for a power indicator is to have an led on the breadboard, long leg to the 9v supply and short leg to ground, use a current limiting resistor in series with the long leg if you don't want it to be blindingly bright. I'm stumped for wiring a bypass indicator on the breadboard though. Otherwise it seems like you'd have to remove the 2pdt toggles and do some drilling, being careful not to cut any traces and then use 3pdt toggles with the indicator LEDs wired under the board on the extra pole.
