Amentum - First Ever Build

Just built my first pedal (also first time soldering so try to ignore that). I did not realize how small everything was and wiring was not a great experience.

Im going to outline 2 big mistakes I made that made me laugh in retrospect:

1) after i connected the potentiometer and switch I was checking the components with a multimeter and the 1M resistor was coming in at basically 0. I thought something was wrong so I soldered everything again and tried yanking out the resistor (which I could not do btw). I eventually realized that the switch and pot being connected would would do that and when I turned it, it checked out as 1M. Should probably learn to read schematics and how this all works

2) I boxed up the pedal, plugged it in, light turned on (great), played my guitar with the pedal off and sound came out (even better). but when i turned it on there was no sound. 30 mins later I realized I forgot to put the 2n5089 in the socket. Once i put it in, the pedal worked and I was very pleased

All in all I loved building it and want to thank this community since I have read many threads with amazing advice.

Also, I could not find my hammer so trying to stamp the letters was difficult and smashing it with a screwdriver was not working so well

that's actually a very clean build for first time, looks great! How is the sound?

Congrats and good luck with the addiction, because... it's real!
Yeah, dude. Great work. Once you build a few you'll start to get a workflow and before you know it you've converted the garage in to a workspace and you're surrounded by a pile of snipped leads and pink bubble wrap.

Yup already got pink bubble wrap all over my office and 5 PCBs ready + 5 on their way. Feel like I was addicted before even starting...

Thanks! Honestly haven't had a chance to play it much but it sounded exactly how it was described on the EQD website. Need to experiment with fuzz/drives but I could see it being an always on type of pedal

You're a natural!

(oh, and I purposely leave my socketed components out to remind me that I forget to put them in) ;)
