I just de-soldered a couple FV-1 chips from a board I wasn't going to use. The process was pretty quick but they were definitely too hot to hold after.
My plan was to use this on another board. However, now I am wondering if I should just buy new chips and solder those because I don't want to spend a chunk of time soldering this, and other components, only to have a board with dead chips.
I guess my question is, has anyone done this? Or does anyone have any experience doing this with surface mount chips? What is the likely hood that these are still viable?
By the way, the method I used was; a large solder glob and tweezers.
(I probably shouldn't have been so hasty)
