Battery adapter for the tearjerker

Will adding the battery wires like they are here hurt anything when using a power supply?

You need a switching 2.1 mm jack to take the battery + out of circuit when you plug in a power supply, otherwise you send voltage to the battery, which will then let out the magic smoke!
If the battery is not inserted when the power supply is, and vice-versa, it should be ok..

That is a switching DC jack and should work fine.

I just noticed the negative battery wire going to the output jack.

Traditionally that would go to the input jack instead, but it'll work either way.


Since there's plenty of room on the PCB and in the enclosure I've just added a battery connection to the layout.

Thanks Robert! I thought that was correct just wanted confirmation. I re-ran the wires to the underside of the board and connected to the correct side. I figured it better to ask than just hope for the best! LOL
