Benson Delay

Well, my Echo Royal "works", but sounds like trash. I need to troubleshoot. Every demo I have found so far makes me question my building ability. Mine sounds nowhere close to as clean as them.
PT2399 chips are not terribly consistent in my experience. Before you go too far down the rabbit hole, maybe pop a different one in and see if that helps?

This ^^^. Try several chips and ideally from different sources. I usually buy at least 2X what I need so now I have a good stash to pick the least noisy ones from.
I have a whole bunch of em too, but I still wonder if they're just all bad.

I guess "noisy" is pretty subjective, and dependent on the filtering of whatever they're installed in, but it would be cool to have some kind of bread-board evaluator circuit I could plug them all into and establish a spec to measure them against. I'm not terribly EE literate, but I do have an old analog scope. Maybe I could rig something up... I'm sure Benson is using SMD 2399s for various reasons, but I wonder if those are better. Belton Bricks are just ganged 2399s I think, and I don't hear many complaints about those.

This is my one exception to the general troubleshooting rule of don’t start swapping components until you know what’s bad lol
