CDXL Envelope Filter

I put a CDXL Envelope filter in my shopping cart. But there are no build docs and I don't know what the symbol is under the 1N5817. Does anyone know what that part is?

How does this compare to the Waddle Box?

That's a VTL5C4/2 vactrol (optoisolator).

Wow, that's a pricey part (I found it for $11.50 at Small Bear). Is there a substitute/cheaper source?

@tdukes If you'd want to avoid using that optocoupler, I'd suggest looking at other envelope filter projects. The DOD 440 is a really cool circuit though.

@PedalPCB do you know how to implement the reverse switch seen on the reissue units? I've been holding off on my build while I've investigated (there's so much more room to work with in the 125b). I know it's not as simple as with other envelope filter projects, but it would really be a useful addition to the circuit.

I went ahead and ordered the board even though I told myself I wouldn't order any more boards without schematics and with weird hard to find parts. What good are rules if you are just going to follow them.
