I have been running pedals through the return jack lately to test pedals. Am I basically bypassing the preamp section? Anyway, is there any DIY schematics just for the power amp section? And just add as simple attenuator before the speaker. PCB perhaps?

Shades of the TPA3118 teaser we got a few months back!! I'm still anxiously awaiting some developments on that front. I sorta flirted with getting a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 170, but at $300+ I can wait for the TPA3118 rollout.

Yes you’re bypassing the preamp and going straight to power amp.
Are you looking for an attenuator or a power amp?

I'm guessing less than $50 for a TPA3118 build. Volume control only. One with basic EQ would probably run a bit more. Also, throw in the cost of a power supply.
