Devi Ever/Dwarfcraft Big Distortion Sound Machine for ultimate bass guitar domination

This has been mentioned recently on here somewhere and I was like "oh yeah, right". It's basically a Devi Ruiner and Torn's Peaker in parallel, here's the blurb:

This versatile unit sends one input to a pair of fuzz circuits, The Ruiner and the Torn's Peaker.

The Ruiner produces deep menacing bass, and the Torn's Peaker provides a heaping helping of mids and treble, for full frequency attack! The Ruiner is a synthy, bass heavy square wave fuzz, with gain and Torn's Peaker side features the following:

  • A WORSE toggle for flipping between traditional barking fuzz and extreme sizzling distortion.
  • ZAZZ knob for textural changes.
  • P/AE knob for subtle gain and tone shifts.
  • Outputs of these circuits are mixed down to OUT 2. Using both outputs will send each circuit to it's own output jack for stereo destruction.
The pedal was designed for ultimate bass guitar domination, but also the perfect addition to any guitar or keyboard rig."

The real shame was when Æn took down all of his YT demos after the post-Devi debacle. His BDSM video was so good! 😆

Mine’s a lifetime keeper. I took some gut shot photos several years back, but I’ve since forgotten what the ‘Worse’ toggle does. I think it removed a cap from the circuit a la Chaos toggle on the Soda Meiser?

I wouldn’t mind a PPCB project, because of course the Torn’s Peaker could be adapted a half dozen different ways. Or a modular setup where each circuit could be swapped out for the Hyperion or something else, like @Betty Wont and @Mentaltossflycoon mentioned!

Just as long as the designer doesn’t steal my money and buy themselves a fancy new set of bolt ons. o_O

I really like the Ruiner/Devine Hammer/Hyperion toggle. Lots of variety from one small pcb.
I saw that in your eBay shop! I’m curious how that’s supposed to work since the Devine Hammer is allegedly a US Fuzz with reversed 2N2222s. The Hyperion is supposed to be a Dark Boost (1/2 Ruiner) into a Silver Crank.

It’s all a matter of switching out a couple of components. I used to populate PCBs for Devi back in the day, and the divine hammer was the ruiner without the bass cap. It sounds a little bit like a brass master. I think the one you’re thinking of was the Destructo noctavia maybe?

Oh that makes sense! I was referencing that mega DIY doc that someone put together like a decade ago, so they must’ve meant Never Drive.

I once made a 3-way switchable OK / LP / Electric Brown that was pretty cool. I like the idea of switching between the different variants within a single box!

Ah yes, the never drive as well. There were a LOT of models that didnt sell many units. The DN, the ND, the Fortune, the 90 and Hounds Tooth….

That’s the file I just shared above! Haha

The more people have it, the merrier and fuzzier we’ll all be.
That’s been floating around for many years. It needs editing, but it’s got most right. I’ve forgotten about the krackle fuzz, tri-fuzz, and disaster fuzzes. I’m quite surprised that the truly beautiful disaster hasn’t been cloned. That was a huge hit and the only Devi pedal to get a run of t shirts. They only stopped being made out of laziness. They were wiring nightmares.

I imagine everything was a wiring nightmare considering the additive circuitry and multi-use PCBs!

As for the TBD, I’d love to know what all the toggles and switches do. I think I understand most of it, since it’s a Disaster Fuzz into an Eye of God looper, right?

Probably. I’ve actually never seen one. It was right before my time. She dropped all that stuff and got into stuff like the Rocket and Shoe Gazer when I started. Easy builds with minimal wiring. That’s the part she did. I just populated the pcbs by mail.
