Dumb diode question

I saw the new Waza Craft HM-2 pedal, so I ordered myself a Promethium distortion. Now, the build calls for some 1N4001 diodes (amongst others) but I only have 1N4002's. I looked over the data sheet and see no reason why I can't use the 4002's. Is there anything I'm missing? In fact, is there any reason to even order 4001's for future builds?

Are they for clipping?
There's no reason not to try the 4002s, or 4007s; and there's no reason not to have a few 4001 in your parts stash. 👍

¿What am I missing here? I don't see any 1N4001 in the Promethium (HM-2) build doc.

Haha, I get parts and builds mixed up all the time!

To answer the question, yes the 1N4001 and any 1N400x diode are interchangeable in pedals (clippers, octave rectifiers, etc) and will perform identically.

The numbers do matter for power stuff, like as a rectifier in a tube amp power supply. The 1N4001 is only rated for 50 volts maximum blocking voltage, 1N4007 is rated for 1000v. 4001 wouldn’t last long in that application...
