The pcb and build doc specifies 5mm, 35v capacitors in 330uF, 120 uF, and 100uF
I don't think these exist in that small a diameter?
I guess you have to kludge in a larger diameter cap.
I have this PCB too and wondered the same thing. I haven’t gotten the recommendation enclosure (1590BmM/Gorva S90) to measure it. I was going to check some of the build reports to see if anyone mention it or I could see the caps. I also wondered if a tantalum cap would be smaller and work.
Lame
It would be nice if the designer considered the availability of components when making a layout.
Even a little experience in electronics and you'd know not all electrolytics can be 5mm
Looks like the big caps should fit in the recommended enclosure.
Mr. PedalPCB does a some of the best work with his layouts and part selection, so I thought that the bigger enclosure would accommodate the bigger caps.
You can make a lot of space by leaving out the transformer and jumping across where it would go. Sounds the same, cheaper to build. Probably get it into a 1590BB as well.
DIY = "Do It Yourself" = use a little imagination and figure it out. Or.....ask a question without casting aspersions....no need for that.
The big ass 330u will fit. (See below).
This design has a DC voltage of 27v, so I would not use a 25v cap like that blue one.
Even the miniature Nichicons are 8mm, not 5mm. But no need to keep debating it.
Nice that the layout will be revised.
When I get the board I'll figure out the best thing to do with what will fit.
