Enamel Clear-coat developing cracks

Hey all,

I threw a few coats of Rustoleum Crystal Clear Enamel over a pedal enclosure I had painted up, and came back to find that it was covered in little white streaks/cracks:

I've never had any problems with clear coating before, so this is new to me. Anybody else ever encounter anything similar? I was thinking I would try adding another coat to check if its just a weird drying thing, and maybe sanding some layers away if that doesn't work. What do you guys think?

Cool graphics work too. Only thing I can think is that the paint under it is a different type? Like a latex (some craft paints) or lacquer. Beyond that watch your time between coats and how thick you're shooting. If it's too thick and the top layer dries too fast it can develop cracks like that.

Still, you'd said you've done this before so I'm likely preaching to the choir here.

If you mix Krylon or lacquer and enamel this can happen - best solution is living with it if you can. The only way to truly fix it is to start over with friendly (to one another) materials. I learned this the hard way putting lacquer over a factory Fender finish - black over white. it looked like lizard skin after 3 months.

I like the cracks, fwiw.
