Flux or rosin core solder?

Hope everyone had a nice relaxing holiday. Was curious, do you use a flux pen (or similar) or do you use solder with a rosin core? Do you find one method superior and if so why?

I use flux very sparingly...pretty much only on 3pdt or toggle switch lugs that melt or get damaged if you heat them up for too long. Otherwise it’s straight solder for all through hole applications.

Interesting. Never thought of using it on the 3pdt, great tip! Found some great 3pdt switches on Stomp Box that were high heat epoxy and worked great. I’ve still got around 40 but I don’t see them up anymore. Hopefully they’re just out of stock at the moment.

I only use flux for SMD ICs or really stubborn soldering/desoldering jobs.

Rosin core solder does the trick for the majority of jobs.
I appreciate the response! I was thinking the same, but always curious of the methods others use. Thanks again and Happy New Year!!
