Recently I’ve been playing around with the Hyperion circuit and noticed the JHS Astro Mess uses two 2n2907a transistors with a switch to go from one to the other. One of the positions has the transistor backwards for more gating. After looking at the schematic I realized it’s possible to wire this up with one transistor on a dpdt to switch the positions of the collector and emitter.
My question: Is there a reason they used two transistors even though it’s possible with one? Is one of them supposed to be lower or higher hfe for more of a difference? Figured since they were the same they’d be somewhat close anyways.
