I mean PCB Mania offer a bunch of boards that already have most components (mostly resistors and some caps) pre-soldered. Not a huge step to get basically everything presoldered so customers just have to solder pots and do the offboard wiring... But if I learned anything from looking at troubleshooting threads, it's that especially offboard wiring can be quite error-prone.

JHS use SMD components, and Schottkys in place of germaniums. I asked them once during a stream and Josh confirmed this.
I have to say that I see nothing wrong with it, as I do exactly the same. Most people won’t be able to distinguish between schottkys and germaniums in a blind test.

Oh 110%, I’m actually building a Klone for a friend *specifically* with schottkys because his previous favorite Klone was the stock EHX Soul Food.
Mostly just found it interesting (and potentially a sign that mayhaps the pedal world is finally moving past the idea of “magical” parts)
