IN PROGRESS Keeley Moon Fuzz

One more op amp fuzz (muff?) by Keeley. Demos sound pretty great to me, although it may just be a rebranded and slightly modified Rotten Apple. Looking at how Keeley already has 2 op amp muffs, maybe there's a bit more to this one?

As far as I understand and from what I see on Reverb, it seems to be exclusive to a specific store. Could be interesting or maybe one could just do a second BOM for the Rotten Apple PCB.

I'm willing to bet that you're right, it's a derivative of the Rotten Apple. Sounds suspiciously like an op-amp Big Muff. The fact that they call it "Moon" should be a clue. David Gilmour has been known to use Big Muffs (both Ram's Head and Op-Amp) so, yeah, it's likely a more refined version of the Rotten Apple. This one sounds less "fuzzy" and smoother than the Rotten Apple. So, yeah, going for more of that "Gilmour" thing than a raw fuzz thing.

*It's named "Moon" because little be known that EHX gave a prototype V4 BMPOA to Keith Moon, who was experimenting with effects on his drum-tracks just before his passing...

Hope to see this one soon! I've yet to build a Muff, and the Moon always seemed like a great Op Amp version. Regarding the difference between the Moon and Rotten Apple, Sean at Keeley said:

"It is completely new design but its closest relative would be the Rotten Apple, yes. Both are Opamp style Fuzzes for sure. In comparison its pretty different though and overall its just MORE. More gain, more natural sounding bass response, more volume on tap, more sweepable tone response without losing so much of the bottom end etc. TBH about the only things that are "less" on the Moon Fuzz vs the Rotten Apple is the noise floor and the price. lol!"
