Liquid Crystal Fuzz (Chelsea) Diodes

While building the Liquid Crystal Fuzz/Chelsea, I didn't have any 1n4006 diodes, so I put in sockets and finished it out. I figured I'd throw the 1n4004s or 1n4002s I had in there to try them out and... the leads are too fat for the sockets :/

Are there non-1n400x diodes I can put in here or am I gonna have to de-socket?

Hmm... could I solder thinner leads to the fatter 400x leads?

1N4001-1N4007 all have the same Vf. They carry in max reverse and peak voltage.
But in an audio circuit, they'll all clip at the same level.
Pull the sockets and use what you got.
