Breadboard Baker
I've got a box of stripboard builds that still need a home. I'm currently working on a more long term project building a guitar body using a 2x4. There was a huge knot in the board and I cut off that chunk. Then it dawned on me to see if I could turn this scrap wood into a pedal. Whelp, I did.
This is an old stripboard build of the Keeley Rotten Apple (Sour Grape Fuzz here at PPCB). Sonically, this is a Muff using a TL074 in lieu of transistors, but with more gain on tap and a mid control switch.
To me, this is as DIY as anyone can get. I mean, even the enclosure is handmade! I was playing around with my router to get more comfortable with it before working on the big project. This is pretty much freehand and it shows . Stripboard build, so the wiring is a bit of a rat's nest. "Artwork" was done via woodburning method with an old soldering iron I don't use on electronics anymore. The enclosure and final wiring were pretty much done in a few hours.
Being made out of wood, this thing is so light compared to metal enclosures. Sure, if you REALLY stomped on it it would break. And if it does, oh well. I did this just to say that it CAN be done. Used some conductive paint on the inside for grounding purposes.
Build this circuit to collect all the muffs.
