Pot with PCB Pins Cut

I harvested a pot from an abandoned pcb by snipping off the thin pins. Is there any reason I can't use the pot with wire/leads soldered on to the remaining thick pot legs and into a future pcb pad?

As long as it wasn't damaged it will work fine that way.

I cut them off on purpose all the time to wire them without PCB mounting

Yeah I've used solder lug pots before so I was assuming it would work.
