Small EP booster or other boost to add to another build in the same enclosure

Would love to have a small, simple boost that is designed to be added to another pedal in a single enclosure. Something that can be either placed before or after the PCB and then a foot switch to toggle on and off. I often wish my pedals just had a simple boost to add a bit more gain, and would be awesome to save the pedalboard real estate if possible.

the EQD Black Eye would fit on the same breakout board as the wider LED/trimmer inclusive one I'd bet.

I'd say a zvex SHO but I don't really want to see the troubleshooting threads about crackling :ROFLMAO:

now that you mention it, if it could be something that is just attached to the 3PDT breakout board with an internal trim pot and a before/after toggle switch that would be awesome. The only thing that would be difficult I would assume is fitting 2 3PDT switches and all of the circuitry required in that small of an area, but would be killer if that was possible.

Those look great, I will see what I can do but would still love a pedalpcb version similar to what @jcpst posted. That’s pretty close to what I was thinking, with an external stomp switch and ideally an order switch to put it pre or post.

I've used a tiny vero version of the LPB1 for this...always works well. Having said that, if you want an even cleaner boost, there may be better options.

Out of PPCB's offerings...

1590A BOOSTS TO ADD TO N1-PCB for BB BUILD:
  • Aft Preamp — EQD Bows
  • Amentum Boost — EQD Arrows
  • Black Tiger Boost — Mr Black Boost Tiger
  • Enchanted Boost — JHS Prestige
  • RangeFinder — Rangemaster
All of those have a pot to hold the PCB in place and could be housed alongside most 1590N1-sized PCBs in a 1590BB2 with an order switcher and two stompers. Get creative and other options open up as well.

Out of those listed above, I'd ...

Go Black Tiger, Go Black Tiger, Go Black Tiger
Choke it, poke it, kick it and socket it!
Lows or highs yow, they all crave now
"Please build a Black Tiger Boost for me"

Bootsy boost is a great, simple boost.

I'm working on copying the eqd arrows boost just to practice my pcb design. It's my favorite boost to combine with other circuits.
I'm going to try to make through hole version and and smd version that should be tiny.

I think an smd version should pretty much fit on the back of a pot. If your only ever going to pair it with other circuits, you could remove all the power supply components and shrink it down even further.

Ill update when I get it done if i remember.

I don't know how tricky it is, but something like that but with the option to mount either a full sized pot or a trimmer would be cool IMO.

Sounds awesome, please do update!

Here's my first crack at it. This has all the parts of the og, including the power filtering and led. Right now I having it on a roughly 1"x1" board. I mounts to a 9mm pot and I made sure to only use part sizes that I could get on tayda just for convenience.

My traces are a little sloppy and I'm sure this could be designed a lot better and smaller, but this is my first attempt at a pcb. I also made a full size version but it has some errors I need to fix.

I think a dual footswitch breakout board with the boost would be really great. Ill try to work on that next. I'm not really sure the best place to but the boost pot. A side mounted trimmer would be great, but it would be easiest just to use an internal trim.
