Trying NOS Germanium in Greengage.

I decided to try something different this time around and ordered an assortment of NOS diodes from the 50’s and 60’s. A mixture of russian and japanese.

I placed seven pieces in a greengage build I am working on.

I am not sure what to expect from the really low pair of OA7 at .23-.25 or so forward voltage. ??‍♂️

The other setup should be comparable to stock in terms of forward voltages. Interesting. I think this is the first time I've seen a TS with GE diodes. The diode leakage may limit the maximum gain. You'll definitely get lower volume from the OA7s. Let us know how it sounds.

Will do. Hopefully the sounds are useable.

Maybe 10-12 years ago I had two series germanium opposite one yellow diffuse LED on a rotary selector a la Beavis Audio. I liked that Quite a bit then, admittedly the LED was retaining dynamics.

I actually prefer pre distortion EQ plus boost to OD so the no diode setting is my aim which allows for failure as I won’t bother pulling them if I don’t like them much.
