Twin Face - Lots of noise when I roll the guitar volume to 0, but good otherwise. Please help!

The fuzz sounds good on both sides (Ge and Si), but when I roll the guitar volume all the way down, I get a tone of noise. When I roll the guitar volume up to 2 or 3 (where you start to hear the guitar), the noise goes away completely. When I unplug the guitar the noise is not heard. Any thoughts? I can make a video later

I also have background noise on the Si side that I can't seem to get rid of. Tried NPN Si with a HFE of 300 and 500. Tried several different pairs. I build a FF (battery operated) years ago and it doesn't do this. Is it the voltage regulator circuit? I tried several different chips bought from Mouser and Tayda
