SOLVED Ungula - little sound, must attack hard

Hello Lovely and powerful Pedal PCB Forum members,

I have finished a nice clean build of the Ungula. Sadly it doesn't make much sound. It only passes sound through when I attack the string very hard, and it quickly disappears. Any sound it makes is way below unity volume, with the knobs dimed. I have reviewed the other forums with similar Ungula output problems, and I could change the A1M volume pot to a A100K, but I'm not sure if that will help change the minimal signal passing though?

I made some substitutions due to availability:

1. -C14 spec 100uf I subd. 220uf
2. -D3 & D4 spec 3mm red LED I subd. 3mm Green ( doubt that makes a diff?)
3. -Q 2 & Q4 spec 2N1308 I subd. MPSA13

Please have a look at my pics, maybe you can catch an error outside of my Substitutions?
Is there a better option to sub 2N1308 with?

Definitely the transistors. You’ll need germanium NPN, MPSA13 is not a sub for those!

Are you building it with the cleft mod?
If so

The small tab on the silkscreen indicates the 2N1308 emitter pin

Your MPSA13s are soldered in the wrong way around you want flat side to the bottom curved to the top

The 2N1306 would indeed be a suitable substitute for the 1308

Mcknib was right. I spun those Transistors around and it makes a great fuzzy sound.
