Zener Diode Question

If a build calls for a particular Zener Diode, say a 1W 1n4742a 12v, is it acceptable to use the .5W BZX55C12 12v equivalent? I’m assuming since most of us use 1/4 watt resistors in nearly all our builds that it should be ok, but thought I’d ask.

In another instance, the Arche Boost calls for a .5W 3.6v 1n747a. Could I use a .5w 3.6v BZX55C3V6 or even a 1W 3.6v 1n4729a without issue?

Thanks!

Which circuit?

1/2W is probably more than adequate in most (if not all) circuits here.
Thanks! I was just curious over all. I was wondering if I could substitute BZX55C3v6’s for the 1n747a’s in the Arche since they’re both .5W 3.6v Zeners. I’ve also got the 1W 1n4729a 3v6 Zener as well.

The only 1n747a’s I can find are $2 a piece. Looks like a lot are obsolete. So, hoping I can use either 1n4729a or BZX55C3v6’s for the Arche?
