Nice build and great sounding vibe, no need to buy one from JHS when you can build it yourself to your own liking.
I had a tiny issue with a broken trace I found when measuring continuity on the PCBs. The trace between the 1n5817 and 47uf wasn’t working but when I made a small bridge from the...
I’ve recently build an AION Ares and rehoused the Clandestine I build which I removed from the enclosure.
I removed the zener diode as mentioned by @Robert to try, and it’s removed the static noise issues on 9v.
I used the same caps as the Clandestine for the switch on the Ares (thanks @Big...
I’ve read that some have reported that higher gain from the 2n5088 can cause distortion or in worst case even oscillation.
Higher gain is not always the problem, could also be caused by build errors (on Vero).
I was merely looking at how consistent the 2n5088 are, the 450 HFE ones could work for...
I’ve acquired 2n5088s for an Electrovibe Mini I’m going to build. I noticed that most measure around 718 HFE but some are above 800, some are around 616 and one is 477. This was with a cheap measuring device.
Does the HFE and leakage matter in this circuit?
EDIT: Measured them again with my...
I've instead removed the 56pf and put it on one side of a spdt and on the other side a 470pf. This helps remove some of the highs of the Pro-10 Blue which for me is on the bright side of the spectrum.
In the schematic you can see that both the bias trimpot and sundial pot influence the bias. It’s probably the most convenient to set the bias to 4,5v with the sundial pot in the middle so you can increase or decrease the voltage with the sundial.
It can help if you reduce the clean input trim a little, this should remove the oscillation.
Thinking about it, silicon transistors shouldn’t oscillate as much as germaniums. Validate all components to see if everything is correct. Otherwise share some pics so we can validate as well.
I wire...
