URL Trackers

Privacy Badger is a browser extension that eliminates tracking cookies and other junk from accumulating and from taking action. It's from the Electronic Frontier Foundation, which is a very legit internet-oriented technology group. It's an extremely safe extension, I would describe it as widely recommended by 'nerds in the know'.

  1. Here's the FAQ for Privacy Badger: https://privacybadger.org/ It is specifically oriented towards retaining your privacy, it's primary focus is not preventing ads - but since most ads try to find out who you are, it may prevent them (or at least strip out their tracking of you).
  2. This web page helps describe what you'll likely encounter with Privacy Badger: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/01/privacy-badger-puts-you-control-widgets.
  3. Very occasionally, it will interfere with a web page's operation - you can then pay with (adjust) the 'sliders' to find what specifically has to be enabled to make it work. I keep one browser app without it for a couple of websites that are problematic, and just delete all cookies after each use.
  4. Finally, leave the extension's settings as is, specifically do not turn on the feature "Learn to block new trackers from your browsing", as there are known issues with it.
Good luck, I hope it works for you!

Thanks Darwin, RetiredUnit1 retired from programmer career in a manufacturing/distribution environment, part of which was security. I read *everything*!

I'm using uBlock origin for ad-blocking, works great!
