You can change it to black by using any other main color but white, but there's not an option right now to make the background gray.

Yesterday cycling the footswitch made a difference. Today, not so much. I'll make time hopefully soon to crack it open and double check the solder joints and those coupling caps as a starting point. Thanks @Robert !

Good thinking, though in this case we’re good. The whole device has 16MB and I’ve partitioned off 8MB for this new storage. We’re not streaming movies on it … yet. ;) Should be good to go for a LONG time.

On the back of the Waveshare screen is a little microSD card slot. This is why I built in support for connecting the whole thing as a USB Drive because disassembling every time you want to modify the contents of the SD card would be a HUGE pain.
