Understood. Makes good sense. I sent an email to Primary Windings about a US distributor or shipping charges from Britain. Thx for the recommendation.

I discussed the current capacity of the Sushibox SMPS with Vig398. He's guessing 30mA. His off-the-cuff recollection of the current requirement of 12AT7 (phase inverter) = 5mA. . . 12AU7 (push/pull) = 20mA. That would need to be verified, but if that's the case the Sushibox SMPS is near the...

    Transformer search

Thx! I followed the link, but unfortunately I'm not a very well educated electronics guy so I can't make a credible evaluation. Maybe Vig398 or someone else has thoughts. The 125B and the one Creach cited are about the same size (tad slimmer than 2" cubed) and are certainly small enough for a...

Hmmm. . . interesting. Are you in Britain? It's almost identical in size to the Hammond 125B, but IS significantly cheaper. Wonder if I can get it in the US without getting clobbered on shipping? Thx.

Oh, you're no fun. . . . Not a biggie. It's still pretty small and not too pricey. Thx!

Looking to build a Robinette 763 Micro. The archetype 125B output xformer is reasonably small, but I wonder if there might be an even smaller alternative as the amp is only putting out 1W and the 125B is designed for much heavier duty. Any suggestions? Maybe something designed for a headphone amp?

    Adding batteries

Want to put in a battery that is disengaged when 9v jack is plugged in. Do I just need a switched 9v jack or do I still need a switched 1/4" OUT jack for when the unit is not in use and unplugged from 9v jack?

Gondwana - my quest for a DIY-ish IR loader

Work any more on this?? Going straight from Particle Accelerator -> Class D -> guitar cab leaves a muddiness at the low end. Considering exploring a fixed EQ circuit post preamp to conform the Class D to the freq curve of my Deluxe Reverb power section. It occurs to me that this might be a...

    Cleaver clsarification

Building the newer Cleaver. Pls clarify the use of the circled eyelets. Are these just for calibration of the jfet's? It would be good if the build docs contained a brief description on how to bias the jfet's. Anybody got a link to a previous thread where this was spelled out?

    Bass Dude

I'm not a EE, but the design looks "James-ian". That aside, a lot of stellar amps (blackface Fenders, DC30's, Dr. Z's) have no MID control. As I understand it these circuits carve out a space for the mids based on the crossover frequencies designed into the Treb & Bass filters and it obviously...

    Bass Dude

Just downloaded the build docs for the Bass Dude. Curious about the tone stack design. Markedly different from the 5F6A design in the Fender schems. You like this one better?

    High Voltage Power Supply

    High Voltage Power Supply

Slept a few times since we went thru this. . .in order to make the 250v voltage easier to dial in we sub'd a 4k7 in series with the 220k for R3, but I can't recall if the captioned comment meant that I REPLACED the 5k trim with a 1k . . . I think so. Pls confirm.

    Sproing in FX loop

I want to pair a Sproing with SushiboxFX's Particle Accelerator. I know it was designed to go in front of the amp and maybe there's not much difference in the sound btw pre & post preamp, BUT if a feller were to place it post preamp (non-buffered loop) does the Sproing have the headroom to...
