Nice work! The changes to the biasing, tone network, and gain control sound really well thought out. I especially like the idea of using the JFET source follower to avoid loading the tone network. It looks like a fun circuit to experiment with on the breadboard.

For an FX-loop boost, I’d focus less on the “cleanest” voicing and more on headroom. A simple high-headroom op-amp boost running at 18V should give you plenty of clean volume without adding noticeable coloration. The 1590A is tight, so keeping the circuit simple is a big advantage. Just make...
