Diode Label Stickers Imminent... Input Welcome!

Many of you have the Si and Ge transistor labels/stickers I screen printed, but I think it's time to add diodes.

They're kinda small, so I can only fit so much info - what would you like to see on them?

I figure:

Name____
Vf___
Si/Ge/Sch/Z/LED (you'll circle one - what did I leave out?)
A diode icon to draw in stripes and mark +/-

Not sure how many people test diode leakage, but I guess I could sneak that in (?).

Haven't landed on a color yet. Might just stick with black? I DO have silver ink... 🤩 Green would be fun to complete the RGB grouping but doesn't make a lotta sense... 🤔

Lemme know! Trying to add to the family:

I write my preferred CLR value on my LED bags. That is probably a bit too specific to LEDs to warrant putting on a diode identifier sheet though.

I love this idea! And is there any way to get a printable copy of your transistor sheets? I haven't seen them before, and this is sooo much better than my crappy hand-written scraps of paper I use now...

Thanks, will keep that in mind! I might actually just make separate LED labels… why not? :)

Shoot me a message!

I just handlable silver ESD bags with sharpie(a little acetone and they can be reused) but IF I were using these, I'd prefer the Ge labels to say "_____uA" rather than "leakage", if nothing else only to allow more space for writing. I think that's valid for BJTs and diodes. I'll often bin transistors in ranges so the added room would be of benefit.
A NPN or PNP designator would be nice. Maybe an alternate color?
Again, having not used these, just a couple of observations. Maybe for Ge BJT, drop the TO92 outline(no ge TO92s) and use a TO-5ish outline?
As for the diodes, in addition to leakage note above, a way to mark the color band could be a helpful reminder for ruskie diodes

Good notes! Really just focusing on the diode situation since I’m not sure when I’ll do new transistor versions, though. We’ll see!

Yep I just used the same two-in-one outline for both Ge and Si- I’d do that differently now. Si needs both since there are some big ol metal can silicons, but yeah, the TO92 on Ge is a little extraneous. I’d add a tab too. I think uA is a good idea for transistors and diodes, and I did originally mean to put NPN/PNP “circle one” designators on there. There’s a little room, I just write em in. Different colors for PNP and NPN would be nice but hey, I gotta save time for actual building! Ha…

I’ll include a simple diode icon so people can draw in a band in whatever color they like! Get yer colored pencils sharpened!
