Is this REAL vintage BOSS? (OD-2 Japan)

So I was schmoozin around FBMP and I found this (I got it for $50) and it looked a lil too nice can anyone confirm if it looks real?
The serial lookup said it was October of 87’
The control panel and back sticker look brand new

Looks like a Boss pedal to me! Why wouldn't it be genuine? There is some paint chipping on the lower left corner at least. Not all of these played thousands of gigs. Most of them would have sat in a bedroom somewhere. It's no '59 Les Paul - it's just a Boss pedal!
