    Procrastinator swell speed mod?

That's just a Slow Gear with a Compressor in front of it from what I understand. Kind of a band-aid solution IMO, and it more than doubles the parts count.

Did anyone get the Spin software working on Mac?

I've had zero problems using the asfv1 and disfv1 Python modules in Linux. On Mac, if you have Python3 installed, it should be as simple as: pip3 install --user asfv1 disfv1 Then you can compile your code like this: python3 -m asfv1 -p 0 mycode.asm mybank.bin 0 is which slot you want to assign...

    Procrastinator swell speed mod?

The SG-1 is so finicky. How is it that 42 years have gone by and no one has made an improved version?

    Procrastinator swell speed mod?

Isn't that what the 'Attack' control does? Is it not fast enough at the minimum setting?

Breadboarding (and modding) the High Top

I've been looking to build a Top Boost style pedal. Is this one of the better ones?

    Sourcing a CH341A

Yep. You've got it. I hot-glued a Headphone Jack (2.5mm TRS) to one of the common CH341A programmers on Amazon, jumped 3 wires into were you'd normally put the EEPROM chip. Then on the Pythagoras I drilled a hole for another Headphone jack, and connected ground to ground, and the tip and ring to...

    Sourcing a CH341A

I had the same problem and ended up getting a Pythagoras, a CH341A USB programmer from Amazon, then superglued a 3.5mm TRS jack to it, and put another 3.5mm TRS jack into the Pythagoras enclosure and wired the jack up directly to the FV-1 chip. Surprisingly, it worked perfectly.

Which version of the Ghost Echo (1, 2 or 3) does the Spirit Box most resemble?

Also, I built the Spirit Box with a few of the mods suggested in Fuzzdogs comments. If I were to build another I'd do whatever mod was suggested to bring up the output volume a little. The mod to increase max regen was kind of pointless because once it starts to do runaway feedback the volume...

Which version of the Ghost Echo (1, 2 or 3) does the Spirit Box most resemble?

TLDR; no. The way it's designed, you'll never be able to get a slap. The signal goes from a delay with a minimum of 30ms (IIRC) and then into a pseudo reverb chip with a non-adjustable 2.85 seconds of delay time. You can turn Dwell to zero to kill any regeneration, but then you'll still have...

    CDXL Reissue Mod Ideas

Hah. Yes. Someday, someone here will have that thought "Hey... maybe I could use an Envelope Filter after all..." and stumble across this thread and find the info useful.

    6-band EQ

Yeah, if you look at the MXR 6-Band EQ schematic, it's not a gyrator. It's just a LPF placed across the differential amplifier. Thanks for figuring out the bands. I really do like the idea of a mid-focused EQ and the 6-band might be the right platform for it.

    6-band EQ

    Definitely will build the Potentiometer version, but with modified bands. The XTS GE-7 mod looks interesting. 400hz | 800hz | 1.2khz | 1.6khz | 2.0khz | 2.5khz | 4.0khz

The Perfect Treble Boost - Help me build it!

We're thinking alike. What you wrote above is exactly what I've been contemplating this past week. While the circuit is coming along nicely, I need to tackle these 2 issues to tackle before calling this done. 1.) When unbuffered, C4 will load pickups and shift the resonant peak... 2.) The LPF...

The Perfect Treble Boost - Help me build it!

Funny you should ask... The center-tap position on the transformer wasn't doing anything noticeable, so I repurposed the switch for buffered / unbuffered. Bypassing something completely takes 2 poles, so no DPDT On/On/On magic is possible. This is what I have on breadboard right now. I'm...

    The Ethics of Selling Clones

So true. Beyond that tons of circuits were created straight off the manufacturers data sheets. That was even the case for early Fender amps I'm told. So many builders engage in active deception too. "Designed to authentically recreate the response and feel of a Surpo S6420 Thunderbolt!" - turns...

The Perfect Treble Boost - Help me build it!

Just tried it. The 100k resistor definitely makes a difference -- lower headroom, more squashed. I might yet prefer it without, as it cuts less volume and is more of a crackly grit as opposed to a squished farty sound. I'll play with it on breadboard for a few days.

The Perfect Treble Boost - Help me build it!

Taking a look at this. I had no idea this was so affordable. I've wasted so much time making perf layouts and builds that never hold up. Any recommendations on how to get started?
