That's basically what I use (1.5 & 9mm) except for pots and switches, which need to be bigger.

Are you also changing height? It does width and height separately, in order to make oval/oblong pads.

    Lab Rat build!

Only one way to find out! If Ge Vf is around .3v, and a red LED is around 1.8V, it's still pretty asymmetrical with .6V against 1.8V. If you haven't seen this video from Arito Suzuki, it does a nice job of demonstrating it in soft clipping mode. I would expect the differences to be more...

    Lab Rat build!

Somebody correct me, but isn't the asymmetry in asymmetrical diodes just about the total Vf in each direction? Ge diodes will have their distinctive character of course. I would expect that 2 series germaniums would add up to around a third the Vf of a red LED. It would be interesting to look...

    PCB Manufacturers

JLCPCB has a Gerber viewer once you upload the zip file. There are a few (mostly other board fabs) among the top google results for "gerber viewer."

If you haven't found it already, you can right-click on a pad, choose Pad Properties, Type/Dimensions tab, and uncheck Use Pattern's Standard Pad Properties. The window will change to let you adjust the dimensions of the pad and the hole. You can even apply it to all of the pads. It's a killer...

    Baritone Brothers....got (a new) question....

IMHO a fixed tele bridge is nice to have with a baritone, because you can get a little more range for intonating when you want to change tuning/gauge.

    LM308 and OP07 - the plot thickens

NB @jimilee's Super Rat has an IC-clipping-only option ;)

    Baritone Brothers....got (a new) question....

I'm using EB "Not Even Slinky" 12-56 for B tuning on a 28" baritone. Actually I swapped in a 24 wound for the third string. OK, and a 58 for drop A tuning.

    XR2206CP Sources

I've looked at those a few times too. Next time I order from Jameco I plan to pop one in the cart and see. I don't see them at Cabintech, but Retroamplis has some.

Any current sources for LM308 out there?

At risk of causing another stampede... ... I recently bought four from Retroamplis. They're at least single opamps (different date codes) and sound fine. They were the last ones in the third of the three different LM308 items that are listed there now, so YMMV. If you're in New England, I...

    Jameco LM308

I bought an LM308 from Jameco a couple years ago. It has the exact same numbers as an LM308 I got on Ebay a couple years before that--and also a couple photos when I google "LM308" show those numbers. That's suspicious  Both work in a rat circuit and sound OK, like OP07 OK. I'd have to...

Don't be surprised if the price of Germanium transistors and diodes goes up

I'll buy more Ge lots as soon as I make a dent in my giant stash of <50hfe transistors that have been like 85% of what I've gotten on Ebay. I wouldn't change a thing, but by my math it's cheaper to buy tested parts that are specced for gain & leakage. Like this deal (which somebody posted here...

Mounting a PCB with wired pots

There's these: https://guitarpcb.com/product/pcb-secure-mounts/ There's also the thick clear strips that are sold for mounting stuff to walls. I haven't used it yet, but it would probably hold up to messing with ICs in sockets, etc.

    PCB Pots Tricks

Yeah I think Tayda's right angle pots cost around 10 cents more, and that's less than the boards cost at around 20 cents. It does makes sense for boards designed for wired pots, etched/vero, changing the pot layout to reuse an enclosure, etc. Also helps use up those pots accumulated due to...

    PCB Pots Tricks

I worry about movement of the wire while the solder transitions to solid, causing cold joints. Probably not a big deal, but it's bringing me down. So I laid out this helper for wired pots and just got the first draft from JLC today. I included some pads for adding fixed resistors to change the...

    Lab Rat build!

I got them from alexer1 on Ebay. They show as "out of stock" now, but it wouldn't hurt to ask them or any other UA seller.

    Lab Rat build!

I wouldn't call it mojo, but I did get a few of these in the mail today. УД1408A, apparently the Soviet analog of the LM308. I haven't stuck it in a Rat yet, but it seems like a fun alternative.
