Thanks for your explanation. This is usually the way I go (35v when available and 25v if I have to). It this case what got me going on this voltage calculation is that for 470uF electrolytic caps, at 25v, the dimensions are 8mm diameter which doesn't fit on the layout with the other components...

Good solution leave it floating above if it doesn't fit in there. The only 6.3mm electro cap I found were 6 or 10 VDC rated on mouser. Looked around with other suppliers and diameter goes even larger that 8mm.

One tip I would recommend would be to get your hands on a generic PCB and cheap resistors (amazon or local). Than solder 100+ components. That will help you gain confidence and experience quickly. Practice makes perfect!
