    Bass DI pedalboard

I've played quite a few big band jazz gigs, using mostly the same charts that high school bands everywhere tend to. Frankly, I've never seen a single bass pedal in use beyond a DI, ever. The dynamics as written are often mission critical IME and a compressor would likely just complicate that in...

what sims do you guys recommend me

You might try TI's version: https://www.ti.com/tool/TINA-TI I never got too far with it, since I already had a lot of time invested in LTspice. I don't really remember if it has pots natively installed or not though, or how many opamps etc. it has pre-installed..

what sims do you guys recommend me

It's being updated constantly, but yeah, you need to do your own library maintenance for many of the most useful functions. ;)

??? Ltspice has plenty of pot options and is great for analog designs, you can even ever run audio recordings through your models.

How to make a clean blend?

It's useful to know the source impedances and the signal levels, at least. This design can also do negative overall gain if desired, which can be very helpful in some cases.

How to make a clean blend?

This is just a quick and dirty example, we can figure out actual component values once we know what the signal sources are going to look like.

How to make a clean blend?

If you want to do two channel active summing I have a little open source PCB for that: But if you'd rather roll your own with through hole parts it's a very basic inverting opamp summing circuit, about as cookbook as it gets. I'll be posting all the relevant info on Github once I build up...

    wire preference..

As always with what so many of us do here, knockoffs are always a possibility too...;) Not all PTFE formulations are the same, some will only meet relevant mil specs when terminated with a connector, and strain relief is always a good idea IMO. When I switched to silicone wire for all my...

Yep, IME you definitely need the carbide blade cartridges, one for each gauge too. I used to use Teflon jacketed silver plate wire a ton and and am due for a new 22AWG cartridge by now. Might be able to get around that for a while by using more 20 and 24 gauge, but these days I've mostly been...

    NAMM 2024

Safe travels! I sat in the Portland airport a few years ago watching the booth I was working in opening up on Thursday morning via a Facebook stream. Felt stressed and rushed all day until I rolled into the show around 3PM. :ROFLMAO:

    Bring out yer Diptrace

New resonant LPF for onboard preamp applications: This version is for low tunings, with big enough cap footprints at C5 and C6 to allow using 2.5% polypro film caps in the money slots. and I made it easier to use parallel caps in those slots to get better tuning resolution, since this design...

Stripax: like so: https://www.amazon.com/Greenlee-1113-Stripax-Stripper-Cutter/dp/B0006BHCFO For Teflon you ideally want the carbide cartridges, prepare for sticker shock. Still cheap compared to a proper pro grade heated production appliance with a (mandatory) good ventilation system though...

    Pedals for Banjo

What pickup system is the good doc using? For the last six months I’ve mostly been playing a dobro/banjo hybrid and I’ve done a few different preamp/EQ pedals with the intention of adding at least one to my open source filter preamp repository on Github. My dojo has both magnetic and piezo...

    1uf Non-Electrolytic - What To Use?

Definitely situational. I use film caps up to 6.8uF for coupling applications a lot. A Wima 1uF 50v cap is only 3.5mm wide, which is hardly what I'd call huge. I've been known to buy 100 at a time since they're all over my designs.

    Any bassist recommendations?

A lot of TB'ers have built his pre-EB MusicMan two band preamp clone with excellent results, that was my entree into doing my own PCB layouts actually.

    Any bassist recommendations?

I can't recommend Amplifyfun highly enough if you want to get nice faceplates made, or for UV printing in general. He's getting very busy these days though, so the perk of getting super quick turnaround may no longer apply.

Halp! I Need Some Basic Parts Advice From All You Pros...

Depends on where in the circuit it lives. I just hand match critical components anyway in tuned filters and the like though, so 5% is typically fine for my purposes. I use mostly Wimas and Kemets, in red or blue respectively. It's better to look mahvelous than to sound mahvelous, no? ;)

    Any bassist recommendations?

I never breadboard circuits, for what I'm doing modeling in LTspice is much more efficient and cost effective. But that approach is much less effective for stuff like distortion widgets and time based effects, IME. And as you'll quickly see, you'll need to get comfortable with surface mount...

    Any bassist recommendations?

I'd like to advocate a bit for getting into doing your own designs eventually, but in my case "eventually" meant something like a few decades in. Hopefully I'll actually get this repository done before year's end, I have several more bass-centric modules in the works as well...

    OP2604 pedal suggestions?

I have a Crystal Lettuce Silver built up and about to be boxed up, and a stash of 2604s I bought like 20 years ago, I'll have to give that a shot. It sounds really good with the LT1057 I have in there right now though, actually. The 2604s worked well in some Keeley-ized TS-9s I built for a...
