Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

Does one of your output jack tabs touch the enclosure?

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

Hi Retty, Thanks for reaching out. There are much smarter people who will ask more questions:) Two things to begin with. 1. Please post some good photos of the pcb board. 2. Have you tried swapping out the tube. Any 12AX7 compatible tube will work.

Bathtub Reverb - tube-driven digital reverb

Soo... I've really enjoyed the extra bass response mod for the Bathtub Reverb. I was wondering if anyone can find fault with the idea of adding a bypass switch to remove the reverb module so it acts as a simple tube buffer and gain stage. I was thinking of bypassing from after the C2 (in my...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I've had success squeezing one of these between the enclosure and the PCB. I do cut the legs off though. https://www.taydaelectronics.com/tayda-500k-ohm-logarithmic-taper-potentiometer-d-shaft-pcb-11mm.html I like the above idea of replacing the xlr trim pot with a pot wherever you want it...

Conspiracy to Commit Electronics - Formal Intro

As an update, Tassieviking's idea of 2M resistors accross the switch to pre-charge the high voltage capacitors works a treat. This is the quietest switch on my board.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I ended up getting that RODE branded one and took on the project. I have some Jensen’s on back, back, back order with a hope and a prayer that they come sometime this year. I want to make the most of the time it’s taken to design my UV print and find the parts :) I’m really keen to see how the...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I should have read further down the comments :) The Unagi unit is my go-to, but the guy loved the “Jensen” name. Has fallen through now in any case. I have just bought a FWBIM v3 so I’m selling my nobelium to fund more parts for another C2CE build :)

I’ve messaged the seller some days ago, but I haven’t had a response.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

Ahh… cool. Yes, I normally use the E4305 but he really wanted the Jensen name. Nearest I could find in stock with postage to Australia was closer to Au$400 than $300. Not worth it.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

Hey Smrtokvitek... I had someone ask me to build a Nobelium with a Jensen transformer... where did you find this almost mythical beast?

Conspiracy to Commit Electronics - Formal Intro

So here is my Bathtub Reverb for Bass. Was happy with the build and used a three way Guitar/Deep Guitar/Bass mod and LED patch thanks to #Tassieviking If you want this for bass, I must recommend the Bass mod for C2. I now get three different sound profiles which only extends the use of this...

    Bathtub Reverb - Issues

Hey Bison, If you are looking for saturation and OD, I'd strongly recommend the Particle Accelerator PCB set from C2CE. There is a known way of bypassing the eq if you want to mod it and then it's pretty much the old SushiBox Space Heater. It's what I use as my first drive stage.

    Bathtub Reverb - Issues

Just to let you know. I finished my build and it has exactly the same issue. So it looks like a fault in the batch. I also used Mick’s suggestions re the Norm/deep/bass and can confirm the bass is preserved on the bass setting Sounds good and the LED works!

Totally agree! You’ve helped me a lot, my modded BassDude wouldn’t have happened without it.

    Bathtub Reverb - Issues

Thanks Mick 😎 It’s taken me a few goes to get my head around how these resistors fit. It just felt weird “shorting” the switch even though it is with such a high resistance… I’m with you now. With your 2P3T you have “Bass” labeled as C1+C2+C3 but drawn “Down” as C1+C3. I suspect that the...

    Bathtub Reverb - Issues

I was thinking about this mod for C2 in the Bathtub Reverb. C2 also isolates the Reverb module from the high plate voltage. Doesn't that mean all the mod caps should be rated for over 250V DC?
