I have a tampermonkey script setup to add on product pages a link for “Search forum for [product title]” and find it super useful. The search function on the forum isn’t structured like search?query=xyz so it doesn’t go directly to the results but my links will still autofill the search term so...

Incredible job on the layout @Brett. Love the relay footprint and seeing someone else use µ on the silkscreen as well. Also just a heads up the bottom 1N581x diodes use a different footprint than the ones on the top of the board, not sure if that’s intentional

this stuff is great and also easy to DIY. you can get n-heptane from art stores under the brand name bestine.

Steve from Does it Doom claims Thomas Jager of Monolord plays flats in his tuning and string gauge guide and while I haven’t seen it sourced anywhere else flatwounds + hyper fuzz + rat is *undefeated* for doom sounds on the electric wizard / monolord / windhand guitar tone side of doom

I have a set of the slinky flats that I've been meaning to try in my string stash. Their stainless flats weren't available when I bought those but they're what I would try now over the slinky flats. D'addario Chromes are $5 cheaper so they'd have to be insanely better than my favorite strings...

D'addario Chromes are the brightest flat wounds I've tried but some of the more expensive brands might be brighter - I haven't bothered to try because of how much I love chromes. I use the 11-50 set to tune to C# standard and that really helps compensate for the higher tension that flatwounds...

The boost isn't super necessary TBH, I just got tired of having to turn up my amp a hair with the creampuff. The red LEDs limit the volume especially with the tone stack, but higher Vf diodes might make the boost even more unnecessary. I simulated the circuit in LTSpice with BAT41s in series...

I use flats for everything including doom metal. I wouldn’t use them for other genres of metal though. I got asked to join a punk band and might play rounds with it depending on the sound we're going for.

When I do this I usually do it the idiot proof way of using two resistors (one going from 1 to 2, other going from 2 to 3) especially if I’m not sure if it’s setup as a variable resistor or a voltage divider
